Kid's Club - Summer Week Long Series
Ms. Susan provided instruction to four terrific young ladies, Misses Jessa Potvin, Clara Hanger, Catlin Garrison and Larissa Crowder in making their very first quilt, the Sunshine Quilt. The young ladies selected their fabric colors, sewed strips into long tubes, and connected rows to make the pieced center of the quilt. Coordinating fabrics were used for the borders, and the quilt sandwich was layed, sewing three sides and turning the quilt right side out. They completed the stitching around the borders, and tied their quilts using pearl cotton threads, and walzed out the door of the shop on Friday noon wrapped in their creations, despite the heat of the day, filled with joy at having made their very first quilt, "all by myself!" Hope you enjoy these pictures - they remind us all of the joy that we experience from quilting!
#2 - Kid's Club - Summer Week Long Series
Ms. Susan had a second Summer Week Long Series this past week, with Ms. Alyssah Ridley and Ms. Rebeccah Landeene, who made their very first quilts using the Sunshine Quilt pattern. Ms. Rebeccah missed Thursday's class (she went to the beach for the day!!!) but was able to finish her quilt by the end of class on Friday. Ms. Alyssah finished her quilt early Friday, and she and Ms. Susan worked together to make a very large pin cushion and a draw-string bag from the scraps left over from the quilt. Ms. Susan had a surprise for both young ladies at the end of the class - a customized quilt label!

My First Quilt Complete!
Margot Salzman's Saturday class of first-time quilters had their final class on Saturday, and it was a wonderful time of sharing and show-and-tell! The gals quilted their pieces using their walking foot attachments for perfect in-the-ditch quilting. Margot provided each student with a quilt-pattern template that they can use to quilt the setting triangles, center blocks and the border. The quilts looked just fabulous, and we are happy to share pictures of the finished projects below!
"Dancing Logs"
This paper-pieced log cabin class was pretty interesting! I am not practiced in the paper-piecing technique, so I was surprised to learn that there are two ways to paper-piece - from the front of the paper or from the back! The gals tried it each way to see which way they found easier, and quickly found out that if you start sewing from the front, you have to continue and finish from the front - you can't switch in process! I always learn something listening to the class discussion! Anyway, the designs created by the four ladies were just awesome - below is a picture of May Daltin working on her creation; and pictures of some of the finished blocks completed by our talented students!
My First Quilt!
Maureen Bishop provided instruction to Gail Smith in creating her very first quilt during our Monday Morning beginner's class. This is Gail's first adventure in quilting, and I can't wait to share pictures with you of her progress, and the finished project! Great job so far, Gail!

Here are some pictures showing Gail's progress on her first quilt. Gail completed the pieced top during her second class, and pinned the quilt sandwich. Next class will be quilting in the ditch, trimming, and attaching the binding!

My Second Quilt!
Susan Congdon provided instruction to two returning students in making their second quilt - Mary Jo and Mary Ann (Susan was calling me Mary Nancy by the end of the class, and I was calling her Mary Susan!!) were each working on different quilt patterns - Mary Jo was recreating her original quilt design for her newest grandchild, and Mary Ann was making a Yellow Brick Road baby quilt for her coming grandchild. Both gals finished the quilt during a whirl-wind three sessions held Monday, Tuesday and Friday - quite an endeaver for the students, and for Ms. Susan! Hope you enjoy the pictures below.
