Show And Tell!
Our great friends from Augusta, RuthAnn, Denny, Pat and Patrice, dropped in this past Saturday. It is always a joy to see them, and there is always a lot of laughter and chatter in the shop from the time they arrive until they waltz out the door, heading to lunch at a Downtown restaurant! And this week they brought some "show and tell" to share with us. RuthAnn completed a block-of-the-month quilt with a holiday theme. RuthAnn said that the block in the bottom left side of the quilt, with the snowman looking in through the window, is called the "heart attack" block because you piece and applique the entire block, then you cut it in to four quarters and add sashing to make it look like the window! What a wonderful quilt - you can just look at it for hours! And Denny brought in her Sun Bonnet Sue quilt, and it is just darling. Denny made the quilt for a friend who is having a grandchild. All the Sun Bonnet Sue's are hand appliqued. And Denny added lovely detail to the border to give the quilt a lacy look. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Mary Welch's "Dancing Logs"
Mary brought in her finished wall hanging from the "Dancing Logs" class, and it is just beautiful. Mary has a wonderful sense of color and movement in her quilts, and this one has all the colors and movement of the sea. What a beautiful wall hanging. Thanks for sharing!
Mary Ethel's "Little Quilt"
Mary Ethel wanted to take the plunge in machine applique, and I think she has the technique down very well! This wonderful little quilt is an adaption from the quilt book, "Little Quilts and Wall Hangings" and it is just delightful. Mary Ethel put a lot of work into securing the heart shapes and machine quilting the piece, and it is one of the most charming pieces I have seen. Great job, Mary Ethel!
Blank Fabrics "Shades Cascade"
So many of our customers have been intrigued and having a wonderful time playing with the "Shades Cascades" design line from Blank Fabrics. And the latest design was created by Donna Yeskey, making the wonderful bag shown below using the "Chestnut" shade. Donna has been having a wonderful time playing with her newest "toy" - her embroidery machine, and the embroidery below is stunning. We forgot to get a picture of the back of the bag, which is extraordinary - Donna used a modified log cabin design for the back, and the values move from light to dark across the back of the bag. Donna, please visit us again so we can take a picture of the
back of your wonderful bag!!!
Donna's BagDonna Yeskey also made this delicious pocketbook using Blank's Shades Cascades in Chestnut color. Donna "made the fabric" creating chevrons with the shaded fabric. The bag construction is loosely based on the Gotta Have It pattern. Donna attached fashion handles to add the final touch. Great job, Donna.

Below is a picture of the sample on display at AQS, highlighting the capabilities of the Blank Shades Cascade fabric line. This bag has been so popular with our customers that Susan and I have collaborated to do a class on it, scheduled for July 17th. Anyone interested, please call AQS to register for class.
Joe and His Ole' Pal
This is a picture of my husband, Joe, and his friend, Bernie Smith, sitting on the bench in front of the store. Joe and Bernie have been friends since grade school (just a few years ago!) and Bernie was in the area and stopped by to say hello! Enjoyed the visit, Bernie. Come again soon!
